FAQs
What is day care surgery?
Day care surgery, also known as same-day surgery or outpatient surgery, refers to operations or procedures that do not require an overnight hospital stay. Patients are admitted, undergo surgery, and are discharged all on the same day. These procedures are minimally invasive and involve a short recovery time. Day care surgery allows patients to recover in the comfort of their own home.
What is the difference between an ambulatory clinic and day care surgery?
An ambulatory clinic offers medical consultations, diagnostics, and treatments that do not require hospital admission. Patients visit for check-ups, specialist consultations, or minor procedures and then return home.
Day care surgery, on the other hand, involves planned surgical procedures where the patient is admitted and discharged on the same day.

What are the benefits of choosing ambulatory care?
- The patient recovers more speedily.
- The patient experience is more convenient with planned and guaranteed admissions, as well as a planned time of discharge.
- The patient benefits from less post-operative pain and decreased risk of thromboembolism thanks to early mobilisation.
- The patient can return home the day of the surgery and recover in a familiar environment.
- Day Care can be less stressful, especially for paediatric patients who are separated from their parents for as short a time as possible. It helps elderly people who are more prone to disorientation when removed from their familiar home environment.
- There are less risks from prolonged hospitalisation.
